Amy Donnison Ceramics

About

Hi, I’m Amy. I make hand thrown stoneware pieces in a simple palette of glaze colours. My emphasis is on making elegant and minimal pieces that aim to balance both form and function.

I specialised in ceramics as part of my degree course at Manchester Metropolitan University, under the tuition of Alex McErlain. I went on to work for over ten years on the administrative side of the Arts and Gallery sector, in both Leeds and London. In 2010, I worked in the studio and under the tuition of Sheffield based ceramicist Hanne Westergaard. Here I helped her with slip cast porcelain projects, throwing on the kick wheel and mixing up glaze recipes. I have also attended evening classes with Sheffield based potter Penny Withers.

Originally from Sheffield, I am now living with my family on the edge of the Lake District, where I have my own home ceramics studio. When I'm not at my pottery wheel, I love to be out fell walking, wild swimming, and exploring the beautiful landscape of the Lake District.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work.
